Meet Joe Saroyan.  He's a fifth grader here at MCS and an avid fiddler.   It all started by attending Bluegrass festivals with his father since he was two years old.  He really liked Clayton, a fiddler with The Gibson Brothers.  He would mimic the fiddling on his plastic xylophone.   It seems he was hooked from an early age.

He got his first fiddle around the age of three.  He started really putting his time into fiddling around age eight or nine.  He's dedicated to practicing once a day during the week and twice a day on the weekends. That's some dedication!  His hard work has paid off.  He plays with his dad, his brother, and in the school orchestra.

When asked by Ms. Cormier about his favorite part of playing, he expressed he enjoys taking a tune he can't play well and making it sound professional.  Often this takes three or four months before he is comfortable to play in front of people.  That's a great example of perseverance.   

His hopes for his fiddling, "is to keep it up until I'm an old man." Clearly, he will be playing for many years to come.
