Welcome Back/New Vermont Guidance about Gatherings

Vermont Guidance about Social Gatherings

Marion Cross School Families,

Welcome back, almost, from a much needed break.  I hope that each of you had a lovely Thanksgiving.  For my family, this Thanksgiving was much different than any other.  My wife, daughter, and I spent the day together and made certain to check in with family and friends who typically join our gathering.  It was quiet and simple, but still we found many reasons to give thanks.

I am hopeful that you have stayed current with the new Vermont guidance concerning gatherings.  Please take a moment to read this guidance, https://education.vermont.gov/documents/guidance-for-schools-related-to-limits-on-multi-household-social-gatherings.  Starting on Monday morning, we will be adding a question about multi-family gatherings to our morning health screening protocol.  Any child who was part of a multi-family gathering will need to either quarantine for 14 days or quarantine for 7 days and have the results of a negative COVID test prior to returning to school.  This may be a hardship for some, but it is essential to ensure that we stay healthy and able to remain in person.  We are all dependent upon each other to follow the guidance that comes our way and keep one another safe and healthy.

To date, our school has been fortunate to maintain in person instruction without any positive cases.  This is due to our willingness to work together to follow the most current guidance.  Thank you for continuing to work with the school and make difficult choices for the greater good.

My goal is to have us continue with in person instruction.  Working together I am certain we can achieve this goal!

Enjoy the remaining day of break,

Shawn
