Dear MCS Families,
Congratulations, together we made the first week of school a success. This week proved that with teamwork, patience, and organization anything is possible. We accomplished changing our entire drop off/pick up routine, we accomplished following a multitude of new safety protocols, we accomplished changing the way we navigate our building, and we changed the way we teach, but we didn’t change the way we care about and support each other. We also accomplished something that not many schools across our country can do right now - bringing students back for in person instruction. Wow, these are huge accomplishments for the first week of school!
A few questions came my way this week that I thought were worth sharing with everyone.
What is the official start of the school day?
Can my child walk or bike to and from school by themself?
If my child is a remote learner and is having trouble accessing a zoom lesson what can I do?
What is the best way to contact my child’s teacher?
In other news, this school year I am going to attempt to share the great student work that students at our school do on a daily basis. Please enjoy these pieces (in Cross Words) of science writing from second graders Etienne, Lillian, and Kristina. I was lucky enough to visit Mrs. Kylander’s classroom when they were creating a graphic organizer about what they saw, caught, felt, and smelled while on a field trip to the stream. It was impressive to see how quickly students transitioned from a trip to the stream to brainstorming ideas to writing their observations. Happy reading!
Enjoy the weekend,
