Message From the Principal

This week the Church Street flower beds received some needed attention.  Several current MCS parents and several members of the Norwich Women’s Club teamed up and over the last few weeks have transformed the garden!  The garden that borders Church Street was revitalized with help from The Town of Norwich who dug out all the plants and placed in the new hydrangeas MCS.  What a great collaboration between the Norwich Women's Club, PTO, and MCS. On behalf of MCS, thank you to everyone who made this project a huge success.

Open House is this coming week on October 16th.  This is a great time for your student to share with you about their school experience.  You will be able to look at the work that has been completed, take a tour of the classroom, visit with the specials teachers, and enjoy hearing from your child about school.  Please make certain to join us from 4:30-5:30.

Did you know that MCS has a breakfast club?  Each morning Mr. Bagnato and Mr. Gonyaw cook breakfast for students who want to start their day with food in their stomachs.  For both of us, it is a wonderful way to begin the day. Some mornings we have up to 15 students join us. If you would like to contribute to breakfast, we are always in need of bagels, cereal, muffin mixes, eggs, and fruit.  Also, if your child is in need of breakfast please do not hesitate to let us know.

Finally, Mr. Bagnato and I spent Thursday at the Annual PBIS Conference in Killington, VT.  We participated in workshops related to strategies for supporting students with tricky behaviors.  In addition, we spent time learning about systems for providing academic and emotional support. The greatest moment of our day was receiving an award from the Agency of Education.  Marion Cross School was awarded the School of Merit award for successful implementation of PBIS at the Universal level...yay for us!

Mr Gonyaw and Mr Bagnato receive recognition for MCS PBIS implementation

Enjoy the weekend,

Shawn
