Message From the Principal

As promised, the MCS staff worked together to document our outdoor clothing expectations.  Recess is a fun and exciting time for children at our school. Our students benefit from three outdoor times each day - before school they have up to 40 minutes, mid-morning there is another 15-20 minute recess, and at midday there is a 20-30 minutes recess.  As we all know, being outdoors in Vermont during the winter is much more enjoyable if you are dressed for the weather and comfortable! Please help us to help your children enjoy recess by ensuring they have clothing that fits our expectations.

In other news, you may wish to attend the budget hearing next week at our school.  This is an opportunity for you to learn about the proposed budget for next school year and ask questions.  The school board meeting will be held in the library starting at 6:30pm. It was mentioned at the school board meeting this week that we will have two vacant seats on the board.  If you are interested in becoming a school board member please reach out to Board Chair Tom Candon.

In closing, it has been a wonderful week back from vacation.  Students and staff came back in good spirits and ready to learn together.  I have enjoyed chatting with children about their exciting vacation adventures and am glad to be back at school.  I was able to get into most all classrooms this week to spend time seeing the many rich learning experiences that happen at our school.

Have a restful weekend,

Shawn
